The Area

Within an hours drive of La Siauve you can discover some of the most beautiful cities, towns and villages in the Limousin all full of history and culture.

Lubersac

The historic market town of Lubersac with its turreted chateau and roman church is great base for discovering the area.  Every summer the town comes alive with the buzz of the Tractor Pulling (2008 - week ending 20 July). Lubersac also has restaurants, cafes and bars, shops and a supermarket, banks and most amenities.  On the outskirts of town there is also an Alain Prost designed Go Karting circuit.

Pompadour

The home of the Haras National (The National Stud) with its race track overlooked by the magnificent chateau.  Races and events are held throughout the summer. There is also the opportunity to Horse ride.  There are plenty of  restaurants, shops and cafes for you to enjoy. Pompadour also has a market on a wednesday morning.

St Yrieix-La-Perche

Excellent for shopping this is a pretty town, great for bargain Limoges porcelain.  St Yrieix also has a large lake and beach for relaxing on the hot summer days.  Excellent market on a Friday morning

Brive

Wonderful city with cobbled streets and a definate cafe culture.  Everything you need is in Brive!  Saturday morning markets are not to be missed.

   

And just that little bit further away......

Oradour Sur Glane      On 10th June 1944, 642 men, women and children were killed here by the German army.  The ruins now stand as a  memorial.          

 

Lac Vassiviere   One of the largest lakes in France with beaches, sailing, water skiing and fishing

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Recommendations

Objat- every sunday morning get up bright and early to visit the wonderful market trailing through its streets.

Uzerche and Seilhac- Uzerche is a wonderful historic town with fabulous architecture. Canoeing is also available in Uzerche. 

In Seilhac you will find the Lac de Bournazel ,a large lake with beach equipped with diving boards, childrens area and picnic sites

Perigueux - Deeply historic with some fabulous architecture.  Throughout the summer enjoy concerts and night markets in this beautiful city.

Meuzac - Between Lubersac and the A20 motorway you will find Meuzac with its large lake area which is popular for water skiing.

Segur Le Chateau  Medieval Village. Voted one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Getting to Us

Thanks to Ryanair  and FlyBe  flying into Limoges airport almost everyday from Liverpool, Manchester, Stansted, East Midlands, Newcastle and Southampton the Limousin area has become an extremely popular holiday location and has seen a large number of British people buying holiday homes or moving here full time.

We are approximately an hours drive south from Limoges airport.  Approx. 20 mins from the A20.
